Let me tell you about the history of Hard disks.

When was the technology developed?

-  Hard disks was invented in September 13, 1956. Actually, it’s an old technology, but people still uses it until now. all computers have this technology, especially laptops, and now some newer technology, such as digital cameras, nokia Nseries, Samsung, video games, PSP, Play Station, and many more.

Where would you find this technology?

-  i could find this device in computers, Nseries nokia phones, digital cameras, and some video games, and many more! i think the technology are improving. in the year of 1900 before gameboys and PSPs were’nt invented yet, they uses black and white for some TVs and some video games, and most of them didn’t use any of this hard disk. but now, they uses this hard disk. i think it’s improving, a lot!

Do you personally own a device with this technology?

- Yes, computer has this hard disk. digital cameras, and sometimes phones! i think this hard disk aren’t that popular, but they are very useful for some devices, without this hard disk, you cannot save datas, and keep your things in the computer. First, i didn’t really know about it, but after i researched about this device, i learned a lot.

What are the main uses for this technology?

- The main use of this technology is to keep your data in the computer, video games, ipod, phones, and many other devices! this hard disks is very useful! you need this hard disk for almost all technologies.  i think it’s very sad that, people don’t really care about this device, i think that’s because they don’t really know about this device, they don’t know how important it is.

Are there other uses that you can think of?

- i think it’s very useful, now they make this removable disk that holds a megabyte to a gigabyte, i think it’s very useful. i usually save all my things there. especially school works! when my printer’s ink is finished, sometimes i saved it in my computer so when i bought a  new ink, i can just print it, i don’t have to start over. i think this device is getting smaller, but that way it becomes more useful, and many people uses it. 

Do you feel this technology will still be used in 10 years from now or be replaced with something better?

- i think this technology will be used forever, because it could be hard to make this, i think they would just change the bytes of this device, maybe they would make the bytes larger and make this device smaller, maybe only 2 cm long, because computers are getting smaller, mini, and tiny. the hard disks won’t fit in those laptops. maybe they would make a touch screen computer, and maybe we don’t have to use these hard disks anymore. but we uses other devices that holds a lot more.

Technology and Education #1

Question #1 – How is technology used in education? (overall)

* Computers are used in education. I think internet is very useful for education, because we need internet to research things. We need internet especially, when we do our homework, and it’s VERY HARD! I think computer is the easiest way to study, and learn new things, because internet gives you the right answer and gives you a lot of information of what you wanted to know. I think that’s the only technology that helps your education.

Question #2 – How do you personally use technology in aiding your learning at NJIS (during school, homework, etc)?

* I use internet almost everyday. I use internet to do my homework, especially projects.  I use internet mostly in Science homework, because I don’t really understand about Science, and internet helps me a lot to understand about things. I think even though in Indonesia, the internet is very slow, but I’m still glad that I have an internet!

 Question #3 – Does technology improve your education or create more complexity (therefore becoming a negative aspect)?

* I think technology is very USEFUL! It also helps my grade. In english class, when we have to write an essay, I couldn’t write a long essay without a computer. Computer helps me faster to write, especially when I have to do an essay! If there’s no computer, I think it would be tiring for me to write a long essay, and it would not be as neat as I write it in a computer. I think the technology of internet,computer, and many more! Helps to improve my education!
